Common Name(s): Garden sage
Sage's botanical name comes from the Latin word "salvere," meaning "to be saved." It is native to the Mediterranean region but has since been used in many parts of the world.
In addition to its culinary uses, Sage has been known for its powerful medicinal benefits.

It is also used for reducing overproduction of perspiration and saliva; and for depression, memory loss, and may help with chemical imbalances in the brain that causes Alzheimer's disease.
Women can also use sage for painful menstrual periods, to correct excessive milk flow during nursing, and to reduce hot flashes during menopause.
